Service Project Ideas
God calls us by name to help one another.
All Confirmation Candidates are expected to complete 30 hours
of service between the beginning of 7th Grade and the middle of 9th Grade
at which time a Service Hour Report on the entire 30 hours is due.
Volunteer work, where one is not paid, is considered service work.
Listed below are some suggestions for service projects.
American Cancer Society
Contact: Erin Nielsen, 563-1538
Help weekdays after school in Wilton office (across the
street from the town tennis courts) assisting with large mailings.
Miller/Driscoll Family Fun Night & Winter Carnival
Contact: TBD
Help set up & clean up as well as run activities, games,
booths at these events. Held in early March.
OLF Ministry to Elderly Parishioners
Contact: Sr. Mary Jane Card, 761-9879
Volunteer for various tasks including writing holiday cards to
parishioners, wrapping holiday gifts & filling candy bags,
organizing books for Church library.
OLF St. Patrick’s Day Dance
Contact: Mr. Bill McMorris, 762-0716
Help set up & clean up & serve food during dinner
portion of the evening. Held in March.
Religious Education / Youth Ministry Office Help
Contact: Religious Education Office, 762-9080
Assist with large mailings (labeling, stuffing), stuffing Church bulletins, filing.
School Sisters of Notre Dame
Contact: Ms. Michele Santos, 762-3318
Assist nuns during evening meals or playing games (Bingo, etc).
Sunrise Assisted Living Facility
Contact: Gleeka, Activities Director, 761-8999
Work with the elderly by playing games (scrabble, cards, etc.)
or in exercise programs (walking courses on facility grounds), playing
an instrument or singing to residents.
Vacation Bible School
Contact: Kathleen Rooney, OLF DRE, 762-9080
Camp Counselors assist with games, crafts, bible lessons, etc.
Held one week in late June.
Wilton Family Y
Contact: Karen Strickland, 762-9819
Work in after-school program tutoring young children &
help with other various tasks.
Wilton Library
Contact: 762-3950
Work at stacking books on shelves & help with other
various tasks.
Sample Service Projects
Sponsored by the Junior Youth Group (7th-8th Graders) or
High School Youth Group (9th-12th Graders)
Our hearts tell us that in serving others, we are blessed
with the joy that comes from receiving more than we give.

Easter Egg Hunt
Coordinate Egg Hunt including stuffing candy in eggs, hiding
eggs, help with registration & hospitality. Held on Holy Saturday
morning.
Car Washes
Wash Cars for fundraising purposes. Held fall and/or spring
seasons.
Christmas Party
Give party for the First Communion Class of 2nd & 3rd
graders from an inner-city Bridgeport Church in our Diocese providing a
hot lunch, games, presents, along with a visit from Santa Claus for the
children. Held in December.
Arts and Crafts Parties
Make crafts at local assisted living & nursing homes. Held during the school year.
Collection Drives (Food, Books, Baby Items)
Collect items to donate to local charities & shelters.
Assist at local non-profit organizations. Held during school year.
Mission and Outreach Trips
Work during week-long trip helping the poor & needy in the
world. Held shortly after school ends for summer break.
Rake & Bake n' Roll
Rake needy parishioner’s lawns & supply baked goods
to
needy families. This is an inter-faith project working together with
the other wilton Church youth Groups. Held in November.
